N.J. Olivieri

N.J. Olivieri, President of Horizon Mortgage Corporation, founded Horizon Real Estate & Investment in 1974 and Horizon Mortgage Corporation in 1979. Now a merged company, Horizon has grown to be one of the largest commercial mortgage banking and commercial real estate companies on the West Coast of Florida, if not the largest. In closing volume, Horizon is the largest commercial real estate company in Sarasota, Florida. Horizon is ranked 1st in Sarasota, 4th on the West Coast of Florida, and 15th in the State.

N.J. Olivieri has been very successful over the years because he has the ability to combine the real estate marketplace with the mortgage marketplace. He knows who will close and who has the ability to close so that no time is wasted. N.J. has also used an approach which many companies do not use in that he works with a buyer who has the capability to close and finds the product the buyer is looking for, versus the typical real estate house that finds the listing and then tries to sell the product. This philosophy has worked very nicely for N.J. and has given him the ability to close transactions across the United States as well as internationally.

N.J.’s success is attributed to the fact that his financial background allows him the ability to analyze a transaction and see if it is possible to close. He can then gather the right information so that appropriate decisions can be made in order for closings to occur.

N.J. has also been involved with several commercial developments including renovating and rehabilitating twenty-one commercial buildings located within The City of Sarasota including Towles Court, the artist community, for which he received a Beautification Award by The City.

N.J. has also been actively involved in the community, as he was twice chairman of The March of Dimes, founded the local chapter of United Cerebral Palsy, a member of Sertoma, a member of the Chamber of Commerce, past member of the Committee of 100, a member of the National Association of Mortgage Bankers where he serves on several national committees, holds a real estate brokerage license and a lenders license in the State of Florida, and even coached T-ball.

N.J. Olivieri received his Masters of Business Administration from East Tennessee State University from which he received Master Degrees in Finance, Management and Real Estate. He was a professor at Brandywine College for three years teaching real estate, finance and statistics. He was also employed by Sharp Wiggins in New York and Philadelphia for two years before moving to Sarasota in 1972. N.J. received his Broker’s License in Delaware in 1969 and a Broker’s License in Florida in 1974

N.J. is the father of six daughters, three of which are active at Horizon, and a lovely wife, giving him the negotiating ability to complete many difficult mortgage and real estate transactions.
