Michael Stockton

Michael Stockton joined the Horizon Mortgage team in 2004, where he quickly jumped into the Real Estate field learning all aspects of commercial, financing and sales. Michael is responsible for the development of new business, underwriting and originating loans, marketing properties for sale, working with buyers for tax exchanges, due diligence consultation, negotiation, and coordination of legal documentation for closing transactions.

Since 2004 Michael has handled $173,000,000 in real estate closings. A combination of real estate sales and financing which included the following property types: hotel, assisted living, retail, office and vacant land. One of Michael’s most notable closings was a $20,165,000 permanent mortgage on a portfolio of Holiday Inns. “This loan presented many challenges, but through determination, and the long term relationship our company has with the lender, we got it closed in October 2007 no less, when most conduit lenders were not even quoting loans. That is probably what I am most proud of.”

Prior to his position with Horizon Mortgage Corporation, Michael acted as the Director of Rehabilitation at a Sarasota Nursing facility. “Although my previous profession does not tie in directly with Real Estate, I believe developing the ability to work with people in very emotional times gives me an edge in Real Estate, it doesn’t matter what business you are in, you have to know how to communicate, and how to earn people’s trust.”

Michael is committed to continuing his education. He has been awarded the CCIM designation in April 2008 and has also obtained his Florida Real Estate Broker’s license in February 2008. Michael has a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from the University of South Florida, as well as two Associates Degrees in Science and Physical Therapy from The State University of New York.
